Chris McAuley was born in the Chicago, Illinois, area of the United States and was raised in Chicago, Nkhoma (Malawi), and Lusaka (Zambia). Chris first attended undergrad at Hope College in Holland, Michigan, where he received a BS in Mechanical Engineering. Chris then spent a few years bouncing between jobs--Artificial Gravity Generator research at NASA, ballistics research, machine operator at a greenhouse, grocery store stocker, and a farmhand--before realizing where some of his passions lay: Storytelling. In 2021, Chris moved to Denver, CO, and pursued creative writing, and has since graduated from CU Denver with honors and a BA in Creative Writing. He volunteers with Copper Nickel and the Hard Times Workshop with Lighthouse Writers Workshop, and he works on translations with Malawian and Zambian writers from the Chichewa language. In his free time, he writes short stories and poetry, writes and records music, rock climbs, and plays with his cats.
