When we talk about ekphrastic writing, we usually mean work that involves a description of another work—a poem about a photograph or painting or sculpture, for example. In this workshop, we’ll explore strategies for ekphrastic or descriptive writing, considering them as tools for writing beyond the scope of personal experience (and for curing some writers’ blocks). In this workshop, taught by poet Jake York, the focus will be on the short forms, poems, prose poems, and prose vignettes.
