2015 Lit Fest Salon: A Writer’s Pedigree–Myth or Reality

The Literary salon has been a tradition at Lit Fest, featuring three or more speakers with varying perspectives on a theme, along with audience participation.

In the salon, A Writer’s Pedigree: Myth or Reality?, authors Steve Almond, Amanda Rea, Benjamin Whitmer, and Eleanor Brown address the questions everyone wonders but that rarely get spoken aloud: is a writing career reliant on pedigree? Does success boil down to connections, MFA degrees, geography, and a spray of cash, or can writers make it on diligence and talent alone? Listen in as they address the tough stuff, such as, Does talent trump hard work?
