Carleen Brice: Breakout Author of the Year

Longtime Lighthouse workshopper (and current board member) Carleen Brice was feted in New York City at the African American Literary Awards.  She also got good news on the movie front. From the woman herself:

The winners were announced in New York last Thursday night at a dinner party at the Harlem Gatehouse.  It was a very exciting night, and wonderfully gratifying to be recognized for Orange Mint and Honey.  It is rewarding to know that my hard work meant so much to so many....

In other news, it looks like Elizabeth Hunter, who wrote "The Fighting Temptations," which starred Cuba Gooding Jr. and Beyonce Knowles, will be the screenwriter for the Lifetime movie of Orange Mint.  She's also written and produced numerous episodes of TV shows, including ER.  Needless to say, I'm psyched!

My next novel, Children of the Waters, will be released in July.  If you're curious, I've posted the prologue on my blog.

Join us in congratulating Carleen for her great accomplishment!
