Gottlieb going to Sundance/ LH going to AWP

Here's the latest gossip on Eli Gottlieb's travails for his new novel, Now You See Him, coming out in early February.  If you're going to Sundance, be sure to go see Gottlieb---it's rumored he'll be dying his hair and eyebrows a fashionable mink tint:

New York, NY (January 8, 2008)—Sharp Independent at HarperCollins
today announced the acquisition of the forthcoming novel, Now You See
Him, by Eli Gottlieb. Gottlieb will join Michael Morrison, President
and Group Publisher Harper/Morrow, and Jeff Sharp, President and CEO
of Sharp Independent, in "From Books to Film – The Changing Landscape
of the Film and Publishing Industries" – a panel discussion presented
by Sharp Independent at HarperCollins, in partnership with The Wall
Street Journal.

The panel is part of Point of View, a three-day social destination
hosted by The Wall Street Journal during the Sundance Film Festival.
The discussion is slated for Saturday, January 19, 2008 at 3 PM at the
Sundance Café on Main Street in Park City, Utah. Now You See Him,
scheduled for publication by the William Morrow imprint in February
2008, is the most recent book-to-film acquisition in the strategic
partnership between Sharp Independent and HarperCollins.

Meanwhile, some of us at LH will be presenting to the crickets and anyone else who deigns to haunt our hallowed hallway at the Association of Writers and Writing Programs(AWP) conference in Manhattan.  Our pals at Grub Street Writers and Just Buffalo join us for a panel on "The Independent Literary Center." Wait. No, don't fall asleep. Don't move toward the light!  Saturday morning, 9:00-10:15 AM, be there so that you, too, can learn how to live irresponsibly.

If anyone's going to be at the conference and wants to take a load off (i.e., sit in our booth with Grub Street), please contact andrea@lighthousewriters.org.  See you all there. Right?
