Yes, he did...

because he's one of those poets who likes challenges, David J. Rothman wrote up a "terza rima acrostic" (read it down, vertically, from the top using the first letters) in honor of the new prez. I'm impressed. Are you?

Yes We Can

Bring it.  Bring the sweetness and the pain,
And bring the dream achieved and dream deferred.
Recall the A-bomb deserts and the rain.

Acknowledge doubt but hear the one true word.
Charge us to love our choices but love life.
Keep in mind at all times plow and sword.

Hide nothing but do not reveal the knife.
Undo what should not be, but not too fast.
Seek peace except where you must still seek strife.

Stand for the future but stand on the past.
Embrace the market, but not money changers.
Indulge the sirens but stay near the mast.

Now all around you crowd the hungry dangers,
On every side and surely deep within.
Be courteous but remind them they are strangers,

And don't forget to drink a little gin.
May you be careful and yet self-assured,
As you have been.  Here are our hands.  Begin.
