Brad Wetzler has written for The New York Times Magazine, The New York Times Book Review, Newsweek, GQ, Wired, Men's Journal, National Geographic Adventure, The Daily Beast, Travel + Leisure, and other top publications. His book, Real Mosquitoes Don't Eat Meat, was published by W.W. Norton's Countryman Press. Assignments have taken him across America and around the world. While pursuing stories, he's interviewed spiritual gurus in India and Messiahs in Jerusalem, ridden the campaign bus with presidential candidates, and broken bread with cult leaders. He's played polo with tech billionaires in India and pounded vodka shots with Russian cosmonauts. He's paddled boats up the Amazon, tailed explorers in Greenland, and surfed with zany fundamentalist Christian surfer missionaries in Indonesia. He's hiked in Jesus’ footsteps in Galilee and road-tripped across Palestine. He's ridden trains with hobos in Bohemia. He's interviewed celebrities, politicians, professional athletes, explorers, spiritual gurus, and anarchists. He's a contributing editor and former senior editor at Outside magazine. While on staff at Outside, Wetzler conceived, developed, and edited “Into Thin Air,” the longform journalism story by Jon Krakauer. He’s writing a nonfiction book about false messiahs.
