Liz Breazeale

Liz Breazeale is a Missouri-born writer of fiction and the occasional essay. She holds a BA in Creative Writing and a BA in Literature from Missouri State University and received her MFA in fiction from Bowling Green State University in 2015. While at BGSU, she served as a staff editor for the Mid-American Review and taught creative writing and composition.

Liz is the recipient of the 2018 Prairie Schooner Book Prize for Fiction for her first short story collection, Extinction Events, which will be published by University of Nebraska Press in 2019. Her fiction been featured in the Best of the Net anthology, nominated for Pushcart Prizes, and selected as runner-up for the Wabash Prize. Her work is forthcoming or has appeared in Hayden’s Ferry Review, The Collagist, Fugue, Pleiades, Salt Hill, Fence, The Sycamore Review, Passages North, Booth, Territory, and others.

Liz works as a technical editor for the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden, Colorado. She lives in Denver with her cat April Ludgate-Breazeale.
