Jessica Roeder was born in Chicago and lives in Duluth, Minnesota. She has taught writing in academic and community venues for over twenty years. She also teaches modern dance and a weekly mixed-form class for people with Parkinson’s and their families. Her stories, poems, and essays have appeared in Kenyon Review, Threepenny Review, American Poetry Review, Third Coast, Denver Quarterly, Quarterly West, AGNI, and elsewhere. Her prose chapbook, Staircases Will Outnumber Us, came out in 2017 from Red Bird. Honors include a Pushcart Prize, a Minnesota State Arts Board grant, and a McKnight Artist Fellowship. She is currently working on several book-length projects, among them an erasure of Moby-Dick.
