Although Karen Palmer lives and works in Los Angeles, she’s taught at Lighthouse since 2005. Her two novels, All Saints and Border Dogs, were both published by Soho Press, and she is the recipient of grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Colorado Council on the Arts. Her essay “The Reader Is the Protagonist” was published in Virginia Quarterly Review and selected by Leslie Jamison for inclusion in Best American Essays 2017. A short story, “Virtuoso Mio,” received a Pushcart Prize and was anthologized in The Bedford/St. Martin’s Introduction to Literature. Other writing has appeared in The Kenyon Review, The Rumpus, The Denver Post, Five Points, The Manifest-Station, and Kalliope. She is currently working on a memoir.
