A graduate of Northwestern University and of Boston University’s MFA Program, Lara is a fiction writer and teaches creative writing. She was a semi-finalist for a Fulbright in Creative Writing to complete her first novel and her short story Pitchers of Milk, Now Empty, was a finalist for the 2021 Bayou Magazine Fiction Award. She is currently the Education Coordinator for the Women’s and Gender Studies Program at the University of Colorado Boulder and teaches courses in narrative writing, travel writing, and writing in the visual arts through the University of Colorado's Program for Writing and Rhetoric. She leads writing workshops nationally for Eating Recovery Center and Pathlight Mood Disorder Centers as well as for first-generation students at the University of Colorado Boulder. Her work as an instructor in Lighthouse's Hard Times program is the highlight of her week. When she isn’t writing or talking about writing, you can find her with her family or with a book.
