Marianne Manzler is a writer-educator from Ohio, who has taught in a variety of learning spaces in the US and abroad for the past ten years. Currently, she teaches in the Prodigy Coffeehouse apprenticeship program in northwest Denver. Her work has appeared in 5280, Fourth Genre, The Seventh Wave, and others, and she has received awards and financial support from MVCIW, Hugo House, Lighthouse Writer's Workshop, Vermont Studio Center, and the U.S. Fulbright Malaysia program. She has an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Washington, where she co-founded the Black Jaw Literary Series, co-edited The Seattle Review, won the Eugene Van Buren Prize for Fiction, and held the Grace Milliman Pollock Fellowship. She’s working on her first nonfiction book, Mercy, which examines the intersection and clash of two powerful communities—culture and science—and how eastern and western beliefs have shaped her conceptions around the body, relationships, illness and healing.
