4-Week: Eye of the Beholder—Point of View and Compelling Characters

$205.00 Members
$230.00 Non-members

Everyone’s the hero in their own story—and your fictional narrators are no different. In this craft class, we’ll examine the important role point of view plays in fiction, why point of view is so pivotal, and, most importantly, how to craft unique and complex narrators that hook your reader. Through various generative exercises, craft discussions, and readings from a diverse list of authors, we’ll dig deep into how point of view can create and drive compelling narratives—both in the novel and the short story—and even journey off the beaten path with some unreliable narrators and experimental POVs. Appropriate for fiction writers of all levels.

Please note that our four-week workshops do not include formal critiques, though there may be opportunities for informal sharing. If you’d like your work critiqued in depth, please see the 8-week workshop listings.
