Because this is an in-person workshop, by registering you are agreeing to follow our COVID-19 Safety Policy, which requires proof of vaccination for in-person workshops. If you aren't able to provide proof of vaccination by the first week of class, please consider one of our virtual workshops.

Following a year of upheaval, it’s time to acknowledge grief and head towards healing. Poetry can be the prime vehicle for navigating loss. In this class, we’ll read and discuss poems by W. H. Auden, Rita Dove, Jane Kenyon, Gregory Orr, Natasha Tretheway, Jean Valentine, and more. We'll save space for your own choice of poems of grief and the poems you’ll write in response to our readings and weekly prompts. Come journey through reckoning, regret, remembrance, and finally redemption.

Note: This workshop is not designed to take the place of personal therapy. Writers in this course can expect some in-class writing, first-blush verbal feedback, optional weekly exercises, and some lecture and discussion.
