4-Week: Reading as a Critic

This course offers a glimpse into literary and cultural criticism. The goal of the class is to inspire reflection on the ways reading critique can enrich your writing practice. To accomplish this, we will read four critics that have shaped the discipline from varying vantage points: Roland Barthes, Édouard Glissant, Eve Sedgwick, and Saidiya Hartman. We will conclude each class with a prompted writing exercise inspired by the readings.
