This four-week class will look at the poetry of Lorine Niedecker, a mid-century American Poet whose originality rivals that of Emily Dickinson. We'll study Niedecker’s poems in close readings and then use her work as a departure for our own writing. Lyric poetry, ecopoetics, confessional writing, and historical record are all dimensions of Niedecker’s work that are worthy of excavation. Through lively conversation and sharing of our work, this class will demonstrate all that can emerge through the study of a master.
Required Text:

Please note that our four-week workshops do not include formal critiques, though there may be opportunities for informal sharing. If you’d like your work critiqued in depth, please see the 8-week workshop listings.
