Overwhelmed by a sticky friend situation? Stressed out by school? Seeing news that makes you feel nervous or sad or scared? Appreciating and making art, and committing just the smallest acts of creativity, can really help. Writing especially has the power to calm your nerves, reset your mind, and ground you in what matters most to you. In this weekly class, we'll use our writing skills to work our way back to a better place together, so that you leave our sessions feeling stronger and more sure of yourself. We'll try pretty much everything in hopes of helping you find a creative practice that can work specifically for you, even when, especially when, we're not together in class and you need some coping strategies, quick! Examples include: journaling, bad artwork, funny fiction, no-pressure poetry, famous author impersonations, fairy tale plays, cork board collages, and, well, a whole lot more. This class can be taken on a "drop-in" basis, but has the best effect when students attend all semester long.
