Because this is an in-person workshop, by registering you are agreeing to follow our COVID-19 Safety Policy, which requires proof of vaccination for in-person workshops. If you aren't able to provide proof of vaccination by the first week of class, please consider one of our virtual workshops.

Is anything more compelling than a true story well told? The creative nonfiction genre allows writers to avail themselves of (almost) all of the tools in the fiction writer’s kit—including plot, setting, scene construction, character development, imagery, dialogue, and universal themes—all in the service of relating true stories. In this course, participants of all levels will have multiple opportunities to generate new work and have their writing workshopped. Every session will feature a blend of in-class writing, mini-lectures, workshops, and discussions. We will use Alice LaPlante’s anthology and writing guide titled The Making of a Story: A Norton Guide to Creative Writing. Open to beginner and intermediate writers.
