8-Week: Writing through Triptych—Exploring Three-Part Forms in Narrative (Zoom)

$325.00 Members
$355.00 Non-members

In this hybrid class, we witness, write, and recast narratives that are structured in three parts. We'll tap into the intention and impact of juxtaposition, position, framing, and liminal space in visual triptychs, structured vernacular tales, and, of course, in the crafted word. Course work will include rendering a three-part written narrative from another genre, crafting three-part pieces of our own, and trying to re-casting a previous piece in a three-part mold. Along the way, we'll examine how this seemingly restrictive approach to form can open new pathways for writer and reader. Final weeks of the course will allow for returning to previously crafted ideas and refining what develops from rendering in three parts, even if you end up going beyond the restriction of the triptych form. Writers can expect to be workshopped twice in this class.
