Every novel exists in a place, whether it’s a spaceship, a new planet, a post-apocalyptic United States, an urban jungle, a conservative small town, a hostile high school, or a universe only you can imagine. How do you make these worlds feel real to your reader? How do you use setting to influence your characters’ lives, including their goals and decisions? How do you decide the language, landscape, rules, politics, social customs, and more of your specific world? You’ll leave with workshop with answers to all of these questions and the story set in your own unique setting. This workshop is open for all genres, including sci-fi, fantasy, magical realism, historic, contemporary/realistic and mash-ups.

By registering your child for a workshop, you authorize Lighthouse to use your child’s writing and/or photo in future marketing and/or promotional materials, including electronic formats.
