Friday 500: Story of a Book with Mary Harpin

$0.00 Members

4:30 to 5:30 PM: Independent Writing

5:30 to 6:30 PM: Story of a Book with Mary Harpin

The poems in Shadowrise articulate complicated, modern contradictions with remarkable detail, scope and form, like the joy of a new baby against the horror of a mass shooting close to home. To spend time with this book is to accept an invitation to engage with the often raw truth of our daily lives, and unexpected moments of peace in a time of increasing uncertainty.

Mary Harpin teaches in Lighthouse’s community engagement program. She’s a poet, a medium and consultant for global Fortune 500 companies. You can find her work in Terrain, Fourteen Hills, Tinderbox, and others. Shadowrise is her first full-length collection of poems. Mary lives in Denver with her family.

Friday 500’s are every second and fourth Friday of the month in Denver, from 4:30 to 6:30 PM. Grab a chair and spend the first hour writing and then join us in the Grotto for a group activity in the second hour. Snack and drinks are provided. These events are free for Lighthouse members; non-members are welcome to visit once before joining.
