Friday 500: Story of a Book with Molina Speaks

$0.00 Members

Adrian H Molina, better known as Molina Speaks, is an artist, writer, master of ceremonies, live poetic scribe, and creative consultant for a better world. He was named Westword Mastermind in 2017, and was voted top solo rap artist in 2018 by Westword readers. He is an honoree of the Lalo Delgado Poetry Festival, and has garnered Imagine 2020 and Art Tank awards.

To celebrate National Poetry Month 2019, Molina will join Lighthouse Writers to launch his book anthology: Lyrical Mediations of Molina Speaks, 2007-2019. This text reimagines Molina’s music and lyricism as literature. In a conversation with Dan Manzanares, Molina will read verses linked to personal stories, cultural and social reflections, and journeys through human consciousness.

This work is inspired by Molina’s concept Rap as Literature—an award winning program recognized by the City of Denver’s Music Advancement Fund. True to the DIY politics of Molina Speaks, Lyrical Meditations is a self-published work.

Event attendees will receive a special gift courtesy of Molina Speaks. Lyrical Meditations books will be available for purchase.

Friday 500’s are every second and fourth Friday of the month in Denver, from 4:30 to 6:30 PM. Grab a chair and spend the first hour writing and then join us in the Grotto for a group activity in the second hour. Snack and drinks are provided. These events are free for Lighthouse members; non-members are welcome to visit once before joining.
