Lighthouse North: Secrets From the Slush Pile—Writing Next-Level Fiction

$65.00 Members
$75.00 Non-members

This class, taught by the associate fiction editor for the Colorado Review, will explore the timeless trick to getting published by literary journals: writing a fantastic story. Rather than focusing on the logistics of submitting work, we will use the lit journal slush pile as a springboard for discussing larger issues in the craft of fiction. What distinguishes a consummate story from the merely competent? What problems do editors see again and again? How can we use this knowledge to strengthen our writing? Through discussion and exercises, we will address these questions and more.

Lighthouse North Directions and Parking

Lighthouse North is our new satellite location in Boulder County. Please follow the directions below to find us, as putting the address in your GPS will take you to the wrong place.

From Highway 36, take the McCaslin North exit. At the fourth light, turn west onto Century Drive (there's a Walgreens on the NW corner). Take your first left (daycare on that corner). When the road Y's stay right, and when you get to the stop sign, it's the two story brick building on your right with a sign outside that says Office Evolution. Inside the building, follow the Lighthouse North signs to your conference room.

Parking is free and located around the building.
