The Monstrosity of the Poem

Arthur Rimbaud claimed that the job of the poet is to make the soul monstrous. Using that thought as impetus to our own considerations of poetry, we’ll be reading a series of selections (in prose and poetry) helping us to understanding the overarching relationship between lyric endeavor and the monstrous condition, and writing ourselves into that fertile strangeness.
