$0.00 Members
$0.00 Non-members

Join Lighthouse Young Writers Program at the Denver Art Museum for an afternoon session of inspired writing. We'll explore the exhibits and examine the concepts presented. Bring writing tools and come ready to create new poems and stories inspired by artists! This event is designed for teens.  Drop-ins always welcome. Meet on level 1 of the Hamilton Building.

July 11: Personality and Place

In this writing session, participants will explore a variety of exhibits while focusing on the way human subjects and environments communicate with and inform one another, providing more in-depth information about the stories, symbols and meaning within and beyond the artwork. A variety of prompts exploring personality and place for various genres of writing will be offered in connection to current exhibits in the museum. Participants are also welcome to explore freely with the theme in mind in order to write in response to whatever might call to them.

July 25: The Seer and The Seen

In this writing session, participants will explore ideas of seeing and been seen, specifically through the interactions between themselves and the subjects gazing back at them through the artwork. Using Jordan Casteel’s exhibit “Returning the Gaze” as a starting point, we will explore how identity is shaped and altered through various gazes and how such considerations of seeing can provide powerful content for writing in a variety of genres.
