Writing in Color Craft Class: Destabilizing Language

$25.00 Members
$35.00 Non-members

Join visiting poet José Olivarez for a craft class on structure and rhythm in poetry called Destabilizing Language. Language is not static. It moves and can be moved. In this workshop, we'll create poems that attempt to move the meaning and possibilities of language by taking them out of their usual contexts and otherwise destabilizing them. This class is open to writers of all genres who also identify as people of color or from the LGBTQIA+ community.

José Olivarez is the son of Mexican immigrants. His debut book of poems, Citizen Illegal, was a finalist for the PEN/Jean Stein Award and a winner of the 2018 Chicago Review of Books Poetry Prize. It was named a top book of 2018 by NPR and the New York Public Library.
