EDIA Survey Executive Summary

In June 2020, we initially published a solidarity statement to hold ourselves accountable as an organization to address and fight systemic inequities and racism. Last June, as part of our ongoing and intensive efforts to build equity, diversity, inclusion, and access into the work of Lighthouse, we sought input from you and all members of the Lighthouse community through a community survey. The purpose of this survey was to gather demographic baseline data to give us a better understanding of how our community, staff, faculty, and board members identify and how they view their relationship with Lighthouse.

We used the data to develop a comprehensive executive summary detailing what we've been working on and what we're planning for the year ahead. We will continue to use the data to help inform our EDIA (Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Accessibility) efforts going forward as an organization in order to better serve our community and establish a clear direction towards building an equitable and anti-racist organization. You can read the full summary here.

As we endeavor to become a more equitable organization, we hope to further embrace the needs and concerns of you, the community, and to facilitate conversations around equity in a way that gives power to your voices and ideas. You are the key toward our common goal of becoming a more diverse, inclusive, accessible, and equitable space, a place where all participants, faculty, employees, and volunteers, whatever their gender, race, ethnicity, national origin, age, sexual orientation or identity, education or disability, feel included, valued and respected.

We hope you’ll take the time to read this summary and engage in the conversation. Please reach out with any questions, thoughts, or concerns at [email protected]. Your feedback and ideas are very much encouraged and appreciated.

We want to thank you—our staff, board, instructors, students, members, and community—for being committed to the mission and being apart of this journey with us.
