You may have noticed a new voice at Lighthouse--in our e-news, on our Facebook page, even in your own head! It's the fine and fabulous Drew Wilson, who took over as our director of marketing and communication starting late February. We're pleased to belatedly introduce him to all who haven't yet had the pleasure of meeting him. Here are a few questions to get you acquainted with Drew, who had reason to mention in this micro space a number of provocative things, which I'll dangle to encourage further reading: insane asylum, "marital aid," the death of the soul, and talking to animals.

Q. What was your favorite book as a kid?

My favorite books were comic books, preferably written by Chris Claremont and starring Kitty Pryde. 139Big-_Kitty_Pryde

Q. What’s the strangest job you’ve ever had (no fair counting Lighthouse)?

Mature Audiences Only Answer: Marital Aid Tester/Reviewer!!!

All Ages Answer: Paparazzi for one of the big, trashy tabloids. I was on the Aspen beat. Sometimes it was fun but mostly it was weird and soul killing.

Q. If you could date a living/dead author or fictional character, who would it be and why?

I am a red-blooded, all-American guy who wants the same thing all red-blooded, all-American guys want in a hypothetical, fictional romantic interest. I want someone who is fun, loyal, resourceful, incorruptible, and a good cook. I want Samwise Gamgee.

Q. Where’s the weirdest place you’ve ever lived—either a particular building or a geographic place?

My family and I used to live in a former insane asylum in Sterling, Colorado. Later, I bought a house in West Denver that had several unusual outbuildings on the property. The realtor told me they were the former dwellings of some of the little people performers from the Barnum & Bailey Circus. I choose wholeheartedly to believe her.

Q. From whence do you hail?

Hither, thither, and yon. Mostly bounced around between New York and California before settling in colorful Colorado!

Q. Anything else that would help people get to know you?

My most embarrassing moment is the time I said “Whatever!” to a cat and meant it.

Q. What literary events are you most looking forward to in the next few weeks/months?

Lighthouse’s Lit Fest fo sho! Distant second would be Neil Gaiman at Tattered Cover in June—I’m a big fan of his The Sandman series for DC Comics.
