5 Colorado Podcasts By, For, and About Writers and Writing

Podcasting_iconI'm a big fan of podcasts. I like to listen to them while I'm driving, at the gym, or just puttering around the house. And if I can learn something while I listen, so much the better. Here's a list of five of my favorite Colorado-based podcasts about writers and writing. Subscribe and enjoy!

1. Aspen Public Radio: Page By Page

From their website: "Writers have always chronicled the pulse of the world, recorded history, made history, and changed the way we understand ourselves. Page by Page with host Jonathan Bastian is APR's weekly show devoted to the expansive breadth of books. With a strong emphasis on the literary arts, Page by Page connects with authors on a local and national level, discussing books of fiction, non-fiction, poetry, history and many other pertinent subjects. In addition to weekly interviews with writers, Page by Page features literary essays, book reviews, book news, and readings."

AOT2. Tattered Cover: Authors on Tour-Live!

Authors On Tour - Live! is a weekly podcast of authors discussing and reading from their books while on tour and visiting The Tattered Cover.

3. Colorado Review

Since 1956, Colorado Review has been committed to the publication of contemporary creative writing. The journal is published three times a year and a new podcast comes out every month.

4. Victoria Hanley

Loveland, Colorado resident Victoria Hanley's podcast is all about the trials and tribulations of publishing in the Young Adult Market. And as the author of seven books published in 12 languages, she definitely knows what she's talking podcasting about!

UPDATE: When I wrote this post I was unaware that Victoria Hanley was, in fact, the YA/MG (Young Adult/Middle Grade) novel instructor for Lighthouse Writers Workshop. She’s currently teaching two full classes and has lots of courses offered at Lit Fest. Find out more or sign up here.

5. Lighthouse Writers Workshop

You never know what you're going to get out of a Lighthouse Writers Workshop podcast. Readings, performances, lively discussions, news and information, it's all here for your delight and edification.

Some of our all-time favorites episodes include this hilarious (and not entirely SFW) reading from Steve Almond, and our 2012 Young Writers Summer Camp Reading, which featured over 60 of Denver's most talented young writers.
