Lighthouse's Poetry Month

Poetry month is technically April every year. Forget that. We at Lighthouse figure the fall, with its dying leaves, spicy beverages, and proximity to the paranormal, is a better season to celebrate poetry. So for all the poets and poetry fans in Denver and beyond, we've got a full slate of classes, workshops, and once-in-a-blue moon events through November.

October

10/15: Visiting Author Series—Katie Farris and Ilya Kaminsky

Here's your chance to learn from National Book Award-Finalist Ilya Kaminsky and renowned poet Katie Farris and later, hear them perform and discuss their work.

10/16: Fall Session Begins

10/27–10/29: Queer Creatives Retreat

Join Lighthouse for three days of intensives, seminars, and free and sliding scale community events at the second annual Queer Creatives Retreat. Writerships and payment plans are available for workshops!

The Queer Creatives Retreat is open to writers of all genres and creatives of all types who identify as members of LGBTQIA+ communities. We also welcome folks who are questioning their gender or sexual orientation and those who are in solidarity with LGBTQIA+ communities. Our intention is to center LGBTQIA+ people at the retreat.

11/4–11/5: Poetry Fest

Count your blessings as we welcome legendary poets like Alice Notley and Linda Hogan to town, along with a starry lineup of local and regional poets, for Poetry Fest, a dynamic weekend of readings, classes, panels, short craft talks, and celebrations custom-made for poets and the poetry-curious.
