In this four-week course, we'll explore the instincts at the root of poetic form—from the traditional to the experimental—guided by Robert Hass' A Little Book on Form alongside concepts of beauty from physics, visual arts, and other disciplines. We'll learn how a range of contemporary poets approach form while generating new poems with exercises that encourage iteration and experimentation.
In this course, writers can expect some in-class writing, first-blush verbal feedback on that writing, some outside readings and film views, and short lecture and discussion.
