4-Week: The Principles of Story Creation—Character, Plot, and Tone

$205.00 Members
$230.00 Non-members

There is a great deal of discussion regarding story structure across artistic disciplines and forms these days. While the form changes how a story is told, the basic principles of what makes a story a story remain the same. In other words, a story is a story is a story. It’s nothing magical; It’s a craft. There are no rules to story creation and development, but there are principles. And, these principles fall into three basic categories: character, plot and tone. Through a combination of lecture, real time exercises, discussion, and the development of a concept document this four-week class will focus on these principles and how they relate to important aspects of story creation such as conflict, structure and voice.

Please note that our four-week workshops do not include formal critiques, though there may be opportunities for informal sharing. If you’d like your work critiqued in depth, please see the eight-week workshop listings.
