Excavation and Aftermath: How To Transmute What’s Unearthed—Writers are urged to “write what you know,” and in this talk, I urge us to look back and write about what we used to know, or knew only peripherally, or in passing. By revisiting the past and excavating its vital (and sometimes painful) chambers, we will find a filament which leads us back to the present. But what comes next? What do we do with what is unearthed? This talk seeks to share ways of safely engaging with that difficult material which emerges from the digging.
