Pack Creek Day Trip: Admiralty Island

$1,275.00 Members
$1,350.00 Non-members

Join us on June 2 for a day trip to Pack Creek Bear Viewing Area on Admiralty Island. Home to 1,600 brown bears and only one small native village, Admiralty Island is pristine Alaskan backcountry. We'll fly from Juneau in a floatplane, land in Pack Creek thirty minutes later and be met by a Forest Service Ranger. There are no facilities at Pack Creek, only a salmon stream and a bear box where we'll drop our packs before hiking a quarter mile to a bear viewing area. The bears of Pack Creek are habituated to humans and the Rangers are there to ensure both the safety of both visitors and the bears. While there is no guarantee of spotting bears, they are the most active during mating season (late May–June) and then again during the salmon run in July. Our stay at Pack Creek will be approximately 5 or 6 hours, depending on tides.
